Deputy Chairman Le Thanh Liem receives Canadian Commodore

On October 19, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem received Commodore Jeff Zwick, Commander Canadian Fleet Pacific on a working visit to HCMC.

At the reception, Commodore Jeff Zwick said Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Vancouver will continue Canada’s defense dialogue with Vietnam and undertake community visits that cultivate friendship relation between both countries.

Mr. Liem highly valued good relation between Vietnam and Canada. Canada now has 600 investment projects in HCMC. He stressed that HCMC always creates favorable conditions for Canadian investors to study, seek investment cooperation opportunities in fields of education, health and environment.

Having known that the HMCS Vancouver under Canadian Fleet Pacific arrived Saigon Port on October 18 in a goodwill visit as part of WESTPLOY 16.

WESTPLOY 16 - the deployment of HMCS Vancouver  - aimed to further tighten the close relation between Royal Canadian Navy and Navies of Asian Pacific countries, and to promote peace and security in the region.
