In the evening of September 25, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Canh Mang received a delegation of New Zealand HMNZS Te Mana F77 led by Lieutenant Colonel Lisa Hunn in a 5-day visit to HCMC.
At the reception, Mr. Huynh Cach Mang affirmed that Vietnam-New Zealand comprehensive partnership has been well – developed in many fields such as economy, trade, education, culture, etc. including good relations between HCMC and New Zealand. In 2017, total import-export value of HCMC and New Zealand reached nearly US$ 359 million. Till August 2018, New Zealand has 18 investment projects in HCMC with total investment capital of US$ 59 million, taking up 58% of investment capital of New Zealand in Vietnam, ranked 27/98 countries and territories in HCMC.
Mr. Huynh Cach Mang expressed his hope that activities of the delegation related sports, community exchange, etc. will contribute to the mutual understanding between people of New Zealand and Vietnam, including HCMC.
For her part, Lieutenant Colonel Lisa Hunn, on behalf of officers and crew members, sends her deep condolences to Vietnamese people over the death of President Tran Dai Quang. Lieutenant Colonel said: “In my first visit to Vietnam, it is our wish to study the diversified culture of Vietnamese people. This visit is a part of Vietnam-New Zealand defense cooperation activities. In a visit to HCMC, we will participate into activities like experience sharing between both countries’ navy, meeting with the city’s leaders and leaders of Vietnam navy force, conducting exchanges with students of Minh Duc Secondary School, etc. to further promote sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and New Zealand”.
