On April 26, SAMCO (investor) has started construction of new Mien Dong Bus Station in District 9. Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Van Khoa attending the groundbreaking ceremony.
According to SAMCO, the project is an integrated complex of a bus station with many utilities on an area of 16 hectares (three times the size of current bus station), a part of 12.3 hectares located in District 9 and the rest in Binh Duong province. The total investment capital of the project is estimated at VND 4000 billion, of which VND 773 billion is allocated for Phase 1. The project is expected to be completed at the end of 2017.
The main terminal of the new Mien Dong Bus Station is expected to be completed at the end of 2017 and put into operation early 2018. Once completed, the project will serve 21,000-52,000 passengers/day and 1, 200 to 1, 800 bus trips/day.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Khoa emphasized that the project is located on the border of HCMC and Binh Duong, it will play the key role of traffic route in the city’s transportation system.
