City to mark Uncle Ho’s 124th birth anniversary
Ho Chi Minh City will organize a series of cultural events to mark the 124th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).
A concert called “Glorious Dien Bien” will take place at the HCMC Opera House on May 19, with performances by Meritorious Artists Tran Vuong Thach, Do Hong Quan, Ngo Hoang Quan, and Tran Nhat Minh and members of the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera.
Violinist People’s Artist Ta Bon will perform Georges Delerue’s Concerto de l’Adieu from the film Dien Bien Phu.
Ho Chi Minh City Television will broadcast live on HTV9 channel on May 18 a concert featuring Meritorious Artists Ta Minh Tam, Quang Ly, and Van Khanh, singers Thu Giang, Dong Dao, Anh bang, Pham Khanh Ngoc, Trung Kien, Vo Ha Tram, and Huynh Loi, the traditional orchestra of the HCM City Conservatory of Music, and cai luong artists Que Tran and Le Tu under the baton of conductor Tran Thanh Trung.
There will be children’s shows at the 23-9 (September 23) Park on May 17 and 18.
A patriotic music contest for students will be held at the HCM City Youth Cultural House on May 17.
An exhibition titled “President Ho Chi Minh and the Anti-French Resistance War and Dien Bien Phu Historic Victory” will showcase more than 200 documents, artifacts, and photos.
It will go on until the end of June at the Ho Chi Minh Museum.
Thousands of students from 36 city schools will participate in a children’s art festival themed “Thousands of Flowers Offered to Uncle Ho” at the museum on May 17.
Other displays on President Ho Chi Minh will be held at Lam Son Park and the HCM City Youth Cultural Center from May 16 to 25.
The HCMC Women’s Cultural House has begun an exhibition to celebrating the 103rd anniversary of Uncle Ho’s departure from the country to explore ways to achieve national salvation and his 124th birth anniversary.
It will go on until June 5.
