Officials in HCM City have laid out the welcome mat for investors from the Czech Republic during their visit this week to seek partnerships in business projects.
The city's deputy chairwoman of the People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Hong, said Czech investors were involved in six projects in the city worth more than US$6 million.
However, since investment remains modest, more trade promotion programmes should be held to help companies exchange information about culture, investment and tourism, she said.
Speaking at a meeting with city officials this week, Jan Mladek, the Czech Minister of Industry and Trade, agreed that there was potential to widen co-operation in investment and infrastructure projects.
He noted that HCM City and the southern provinces of Viet Nam had an attractive investment environment, and that the Czech Republic was ready to support investment in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, health care and banking.
In the near future, more activities will be organised to promote the investment environment, he said.
On May 14, representatives from 18 Czech companies attended a Seller – Buyer Meeting of Czech and HCM City companies held in HCM City.
At the meeting, the companies sought partners in an effort to broaden their business activities in Viet Nam and HCM City in particular.
The Czech companies attending the meeting in HCM City operate in many sectors, including banking, software, furniture, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages.
