In the afternoon of June 21, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received Mr. Mpetjane Kgaogele Lekgoro, new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of South Africa in a courtesy visit to the city.
At the reception, Mr. Phong stressed that the city always pays a special attention to establishment of multi-faceted cooperation relations with South Africa. E.g many Vietnamese business delegations have paid visits to South Africa and established diplmatic relations with Johannesburg City (South Africa) since 2009. The city always create favorable conditions for foreing invesors, including those from South Africa. He said 2018 marks the 25 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Africa. Vietnam always considers South Africa as one of the most important partners and a gateway for Vietnam to penetrate into African market. Mr. Phong expressed his belief that the cooperation relations between Vietnam, including HCMC, with South Africa will continue growing in the future.
For his part, Ambassador Mpetjane Kgaogele Lekgoro said during his term in Vietnam, he will make efforts in promoting cooperation relations between South Africa and Vietnam, especially strengthening people to people exchanges.
Thanked the city for supporting South Africa to open Consulate General Office in HCMC, Mr. Mpetjane Kgaogele Lekgoro expressed his hope to receive the city’s support in promoting economic-trade cooperation relations of South African business delegations in the coming time.
