Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong receives outgoing Canadian Ambassador

July 17, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received outgoing Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Ping Kitnikone in her visit to bid farewell.



At the meeting, Chairman Phong highly appreciates her contributions to the multi-faceted cooperation relations between Vietnam and Canada in fields of economy, education. There are now 5,000 Vietnamese students studying in Canada, the largest number as of Southeast Asian countries. Mr. Phong expressed his hope that Mrs. Ping Kintnikone, at any position, will continue to support the well-established friendship and cooperation relations between Vietnam and Canada, including HCMC.


He expressed his belief that her successor will also play the role of linking bridge to further strengthen cooperation and exchanging activities between Canada and HCMC in fields of banking, finance, smart city development, education, vocational training, etc.


For her part, Ambassador Ping Kitnikone thanked Vietnam Government for support in strengthening trade cooperation between both countries, expressing her hope both countries will exchange business delegations apart from high-profile visit exchange to study and seek investment opportunities in Vietnam. She especially appreciates the development potential of HCMC, saying many Canadian enterprises will seek cooperation opportunities in the city.
