On November 18, Outgoing Ambassador of New Zealand to Vietnam Haike Manning met with Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong to bid farewell.
At the reception, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong said Vietnam and New Zealand celebrated the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relation in 2015 with various activities like launching HCMC-Auckland direct flight, New Zealand Experience Expo, etc. Especially, the launch of HCMC-Auckland direct flight has increased the number of tourists of New Zealand to Vietnam as well as created favorable conditions for goods exchange, especially fruits.
Mr. Phong congratulated Hakie Manning on excellently completing his tasks in Vietnam, highly appreciated contributions of Hakie Manning to the improvement of Vietnam-New Zealand relation. He wished Mr. Hakie Manning to achieve success in his new position and to continuously play the role of linking bridge for Vietnam and New Zealand.
For his part, Mr. Haike Manning thanked HCMC’s leaders for supporting him and the Consulate General of New Zealand in HCMC. He said through many visits to HCMC in the past time, he had many good memories of the city. He added that Vietnam and New Zealand still have many cooperation potentials. In the coming time, both sides will further strengthen cooperation in fields of food technology, education, tourism, etc.
