Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong receives New Canadian Ambassador

On October 20, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received New Canadian Ambassador Ping Kitnikone on a courtesy visit to HCMC.


At the reception, Mr. Phong congratulated Mrs. Ping Kitnikone on her new working term in Vietnam in the context of well-developed and deepened cooperation relation between Vietnam and Canada.


At local level, HCMC and Canada have achieved fruitful results. Canada now ranks 19th out of 79 countries and territories investing in HCMC with more than 600 projects worth US$ 760 million. In addition, many cooperation programs have been effectively implemented including education, flight training, etc.


Mr. Phong committed that HCMC will always accompany and be ready for creating favorable conditions for Canadian investors to study and seek investment opportunities in HCMC. He expressed his hope that Mrs. Ping Kitnikone with her role as new Canadian ambassador to Vietnam will promote many more specific cooperation programs, contributing to improvement of Canada-Vietnam relation.


Mrs. Ping Kitnikone stressed that good political relation between Vietnam and Canada will get more fruitful results in the future through high-profile visits of both countries’ leaders. According to Mrs. Ping Kitnikone, with good results of both sides’ education cooperation programs in recent years, Canada hopes to promote more cooperation programs in fields of economy, trade, environment, health, etc.
