On December 16, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received New Australian Ambassador Craig Chittick on his courtesy visit to Vietnam

At the reception, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong highly appreciated Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Cooperation and Friendship Relations. 

Mr. Phong said that Australia is now one of the important partners of Vietnam in fields of processing industry, oil and gas, banking, education-training, etc. In HCMC alone, Australia ranks 19th out of 79 countries and territories investing in the city till November 2016.

He expressed his hope that HCMC wants to strengthen cooperation with Australia in fields of Australia’s strengths like import of dairy cow, cow raising, education-training, tourism, culture exchange, etc. Mr. Phong expressed his belief that Mr. Craig Chittick, in his new tenure in Vietnam, will do his best to further promote Vietnam-Australia cooperation relation in general and of HCMC with localities of Australia in particular.

For his part, Mr.Craig Chittick said Australia is proud of continuously promoting the good cooperation relation with Vietnam, including HCMC. He added that Vietnam has currently big potential and advantages for development, saying he will, in his term in Vietnam, encourage many high-profile delegations and businesses of Australia to seek and promote investment cooperation opportunities in fields of both side’s strengths.
