Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong receives Korean Ambassador to Vietnam

July 10, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received new Korean Ambassador of Vietnam Kim Do-Hyon.



At the reception, Mr. Phong congratulated Mr. Kim Do-Hyon on his new position as Korean Ambassador to Vietnam and highly appreciated the well-established Vietnam-Korea cooperation relations, especially between HCMC and localities of Korea.


Korea has now 1,530 investment projects in HCMC worth US$ 4.85 billion, ranked 3 out of countries and territories investing in HCMC. There are now 100,000 Korean people living and working in Vietnam, 80,000 of them living in HCMC.  Many Korean big firms have affirmed their brands and positions in the city.

Mr. Phong emphasized that the city will create favourable conditions for Korean people working and investing in the city, expressing his hope that as the Ambassador, Mr. Kim Do-Hyon will help deepen Vietnam-Korea relations in general and between HCMC and localities of Korea in particular.

For his part, Mr. Kim Do-Hyon highly values the city’ role in supporting the implementation of cooperation programs of Korea, expressing his commitments to further strengthen cooperation relations between both countries, including between HCMC and localities of Korea. Mr. Kim Do-Hyon also expressed his hope to find effective solutions to connect Korean technology and resources of Vietnam in an effort to turn HCMC into a global city.
