At the reception, Mr. Phong congratulated Mrs. Cecilia Piccioni’s good performances in her term in Vietnam. In discussion of outstanding results in investment, trade cooperation between Vietnam and Italia, including with HCMC, Mr. Phong highly appreciated her contributions to the comprehensive cooperation relations between Italy and Vietnam in general and between Italy and HCMC in particular through senior visit exchanges and support programs for small and medium-sized enterprises, especially the establishment of Vietnam-Italy Footwear Technology Centre in Binh Duong province.

Mr. Phong expressed his hope that Italy will further promote cooperation with HCMC in fields: establishment of fashion design center in HCMC, hi-tech industry, precision mechanical engineering, food processing, tourism, heritage preservation, culture. He also expressed his belief that Mrs. Cecilia Piccioni, in her new post, will help strengthen cooperation relations between Vietnam – Italy and HCMC-Italy.

For her part, Mrs. Cecilia Piccioni thanked Mr. Phong for warm welcome and enthusiastic support for promoting HCMC-Italy cooperation. She said that Italy has strengths of fashion, processing industry and is willing to cooperate with HCMC. According to her, people to people exchanges between Vietnam and Italy have strongly developed with increasing number of Italian visitors coming to Vietnam and Italy, while Italy has attracted many Vietnamese students to study in Italy.

She affirmed that her next follower and colleagues will surely promote cooperation relations between Vietnam and Italy, including with HCMC.
