On February 14, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias on his visit to Vietnam on the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh.
At the reception, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong gave a brief introduction of socio-economic development of HCMC and affirmed that the city is always paying attention to cooperation with foreign partners, including Greece. In 2016, two way trade between both sides reached US$ 43 million but this figure is not matched with both sides’ potential, Greece has no investment project in HCMC.
Mr. Phong said HCMC aims to build HCMC into a civilized-modern-sentimental city with better living quality, playing the role of driving force in the process of modernization and industrialization. In order to achieve this, apart from domestic capital, the city is also paying a special attention to foreign investment capital. HCMC always welcome and create favorable conditions for foreign businesses, including Greek ones, to study investment cooperation opportunities in the city, especially in fields of Greek strengths.
Thanked leaders of HCMC, Mr. Nikos Kotzias also informed Mr. Phong about his meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and some important issues agreed, including organizing economic forum to create favorable conditions for both sides to study investment opportunities and to promote trade cooperation.
