Addressing at the meeting on implementation of key tasks in 2017 at Can Gio District, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said Can Gio needs to bring into play its advantages of biosphere reserve of the world with a coastline of 10km, near the city’s center. He requested to build Can Gio into a marine eco-tourism and resort area.
It is necessary for Can Gio to improve its State management capability and administration reform. Besides, the district needs to focus on training and vocational consultancy for local people in the trend of urbanization and economic structure transfer.
According to a report of Can Gio District, total production value in 2016 was estimated at VND 4, 592 billion, up 10, 8% of the plan. Agriculture-forestry-fisheries account for 48, 6%, service of 39, 7% and industry-construction of 11, 7%. Total social investment value reached VND 1, 967.4 billion, up 3% compared to the same period. Can Gio has provided vocational training courses for 1, 666 laborers, solving jobs for 5, 813 laborers.
In 2017, the district will strive to make a big change in terms of quality and efficiency towards sustainable development, ensuring stable growth speed with total production value of 13%, maintaining 100% of households accessing to clean water, bringing total number of national standard schools 25-30, achieving 6/6 new rural communes and pursuing sustainable poverty reduction.
Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong agreed the 2017 plan of Can Gio, he suggested to clearly assigning related departments and agencies with specific tasks as a foundation for evaluating achieved results.
