On November 4, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan received Mrs. Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake, Ambassador of Sri Lanka.
Mr. Le Hoang Quan said Vietnam and Sri Lanka has a good traditional relation. Vietnam always keeps in mind the support and assistance of Sri Lanka for Vietnam in the struggle for national liberation or in some international forums. Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular always attaches much importance to development of co-operation relation with Sri Lanka, making it more practical, effective and beneficial for both sides. Mentioning about co-operation potential between both countries, Mr. Quan suggested that Mrs. Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake will help connect HCMC with Colombo (Capital of Sri Lanka) to further foster the friendship and co-operation relations between both countries.
Mrs. Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake said the co-operation relation between both countries have been deeply developed but not matched with potential and expectation of both sides’ peoples. She expressed her hope that in her tenure in Vietnam she will further promote the co-operation relation between both countries, especially in trade-tourism and investment between HCMC and Sri Lanka.
