On June 18, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tat Thanh Cang received CEO of Acecook Vietnam Kajiwara Junichi on his visit to HCMC to report about the company’s activities.
At the meeting, Mr. Kajiwara Junichi said Acecook Vietnam is a subsidiary of Acecook Japan, started its business in Vietnam since 1995. At the moment, Acecook Vietnam supplies 2, 8 billion noodle packages/year, accounting for 50% of the market demand in Vietnam.
He noted that the Vietnamese instant noodle market has developed very fast but this trend has slowed down in 2-3 recent years and witnessed a sign of market saturation. The reason comes from information of unsafe additives of instant noodle of which attracts serious concern of consumers; unhealthy competition through advertisements which speak ill of products of competitors or violate intellectual property rights through package copy of famous instant noodle brands like the case of Hao Hao brand of Acecook Vietnam.
Mr. Kajiwara Junichi hoped that Vietnam Government and authorities of HCMC should have stronger measures addressing violations of intellectual property rights to protect the rights and benefits of Acecook Vietnam. By doing this, he himself is confident enough to persuade other Japanese companies to invest in Vietnam.
Mr. Cang expressed his appreciation of Mr. Kajiwara Junichi’s good affection for Vietnam as well as Acecook’s contributions to Vietnam in the last 20 years. He affirmed that view of the Party and authority of HCMC is to ensure the rights and legitimate benefits for investors, creating a fair business environment for all people and enterprises. Every violation will be seriously punished in accordance to the law to create an equal business environment amongst enterprises. It should be a deterrent for any similar violation.
