Celebration of 92nd birthday of Queen Elizabeth II in HCMC

In the morning of June 4, HCMC Union of Friendship Associations coordinated witth Vietnam-UK Friendship Association to host a ceremomy to mark the 92nd birthday of UK Elizabeth II and 45 years of Vietnam-UK diplomatic relations.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of Vietnam-UK Friendship Association Tran Viet Hung expressed his respect and sent his best wishes wto UK Queen Elizabeth II, wishing the UK country and people prosperity and happiness as well as the continuously developed Vietnam-UK friendship relations.

Mr. Hung affirmed that Vietnam-UK relations has been strongly developed. The UK now ranks 14 out of 82 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. Till Mid April, export value from Vietnam to the UK reached US$ 1,75 billion, up 30% compared to the same period, and import value from the UK stayed at US$ 238 million, up 17,6% compared to the same period. In 2017, Vietnam recieved 283,537 visitors from the UK. The UK is one of the top destinations for Vietnamese students with more than 11,000 ones studying at the UK.

The UK Consul General in HCMC Ian Gibbons affirmed Vietnam-U relations have been strongly reinforced through high-profile visits and practical cooperation programs in fields of trade, educaiton, financial management, culutre, etc. In HCMC, many big UK economic firms have successfully been doing business in the city and contributing to the deep and wide cooperation relations between Vietnam and the UK.

Mr. Ian Gibbons congratulated the 92th birthday of Quen Elizabeth II and wished Vietnam-UK relations would further develop. On this occasion, Vietnam-UK Friendship Association officially launched the UK-Vietnam Friendship Sub-association, English linguistics and literature (University of Social Sciences and Humanities).
