On behalf of leaders of the city, Mr. Liem congratulated the Government and people of Switzerland on this special event. Stressing the well-developed cooperation relation between both countries, Mr. Liem said Vietnam is always paying special attention to comprehensive cooperation with Switzerland, saying Switzerland is one of the most important partners of Vietnam in Europe.  In 2015, total two way trade between both countries reached US$ 1, 53 billion. Till now, Switzerland has more than 100 projects in Vietnam with total investment capital of US$ 2 billion, ranked 4th out of European countries investing in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Liem, the signing of FTA between Vietnam and EFTA in the coming time will be a firm foundation for both countries to strongly carry out economic cooperation, opening new trade opportunities for both sides’ business communities. At local level, Switzerland is one of the 15th largest foreign investors in HCMC. The launch of Swiss Consulate General in HCMC has presented the special attention of Switzerland to strong cooperation relation with Vietnam, including HCMC.

Mr. Le Thanh Liem affirmed that as a driving force of the whole country, HCMC always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for Swiss enterprises to live, seek investment cooperation opportunities here.
