Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese - HCMC, linking bridge overseas Vietnamese and their homeland

On January 28, Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese –HCMC (ALOV-HCMC) held the 2nd Congress of delegates (2015-2020). Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem attended.

 

 

In the first term, ALOV-HCM has hosted many activities: get together, networking, supporting overseas Vietnamese return home, reflecting their feelings and aspirations, submitting difficulties of overseas Vietnamese when returning home to leaders (buying house, immigration visas, Vietnamese citizenship registration, trade and investment, etc). ALOV-HCM also organized other activities to support youths of Vietnamese origins heading to their nation of origin; coordinating with agencies in HCMC to provide information for overseas Vietnamese on the State’s policies related to overseas Vietnamese.  

 

 


Bringing into play the role of linking bridge of overseas Vietnamese, ALOV-HCMC has contacted with Associations of Overseas Vietnamese, making use of international support in the region and the world. Typically, Sub-association of former Laos and Thai overseas – a gathering place of family’s members, friends living in Lao – Thailand – and HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations to organize annual cultural exchanges on occasions of traditional Lunar New Year festivals of Lao and Thailand; connecting Laos and Thailand overseas with Vietnamese businesses, supporting Vietnamese businesses to seek markets and partners. Sub-association of former Vietnamese students in Japan is also a prestigious address for providing  introduction and guidance of studying in Japan, this sub-association regularly hosts Vietnam-Japan cultural exchanges.


In the new term, ALOV-HCM will bring into play potential and resources of overseas Vietnamese in international economic integration, co-operating with Associations of overseas Vietnamese, making use of support of successful overseas Vietnamese those who has a great influence on politics, economy, society; seeking international support for development and protection of Vietnam Fatherland.

The Congress has selected 29 members of new Executive Board, of whom Mr. Luong Bach Van – Vice President of  Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City – holds position of President of ALOV-HCMC in the second term (1015-2020)


Addressing at the 2nd Congress of delegates, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem noted that ALOV-HCMC needs to better grasp, reflect legitimate feelings and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese to the Party, the State; mobilizing overseas Vietnamese to look towards Vietnam Fatherland, participating into construction, development of the country.


ALOV-HCMC also needs to diversifies forms of gathering, calling for unity and bringing into play roles of typical overseas Vietnamese individuals. In addition, ALOV-HCMC continues to do research, review proposals of adjustment, supplement of legal documents related to benefits of overseas Vietnamese (citizenship, house ownership, trade and investment, etc); participating in supervision activities of policy and regulation implementation to better meet aspirations and to protect legitimate benefits of overseas Vietnamese.
