HCMC will have 3 groups of poor households with 5 dimensions of social poverty in the period of 2016-2020. This is a basis for conducting a survey on poverty in HCMC in the coming time.
This was affirmed at the press conference on March 8 chaired by Steering Board for Poverty Reduction and Increase of Better-off Household.
21 million/person/year and the near poor criteria will be from VND 21 million to VND 28 million/person/year. However, in reality, income dimensions will be interlaced into the 5 poverty criteria.
The Steering Board said poverty reduction policy will be applied to all citizens in HCMC irrespective of permanent or temporary residence, nor urban or suburban. From end of 2015, the city has carried out new policy approach to its staffs in 24 districts.
Mr. Nguyen Van Xe – Deputy Director of HCMC Department of Labor – War Invalids –Social Affairs cum Permanent Deputy Head of Steering Board for Poverty Reduction and Increase of Better-off Household said: “After conducting the survey with poverty data, localities will lay out specific support policies based on policies adopted by HCMC in the short coming time”.
At the moment, methods and measures have been established, once widely spreading out, each poor and near-poor household can easily access to enjoy a full and legitimate benefits.
