In the morning of June 7, HCMC Union of Friendship Associations organized a summing up ceromony of foreign non-governmental activities. This is an annual event to create favorable conditions for non-governmental organizations and partners to share information.
Cooperation relations with foreign non-governmental organizations has been defined as an important channel of the Party’s and State’s foreign external policies. Today, HCMC has 160 foreign non-governmental organizations being lisensed, 167 of them come from Ameria, 61 from Europe, 30 from Asia Pacific and 2 from Africa.
In 2017, HCMC People’s Committee has approved a policy allowing Vietnamese partners to receive foreign non-governmental aids with total amount of US$ 48.6 million. Till May 31, 2018, the city has received a total aid of US$ 27.2 million from foreign non-governmental organizations.
Most of these aid programs focus on fields of health, scientific research, education, training, child-care, care service for the disabled and people with difficult circumstances. President of HCMC Union of Friendship Assosiations Huynh Minh Thien expressed his desire to have foreign non-governmental organizations strengthening aid and cooperation programs with the city’s departments and agencies to better serve the target of social security and to ehance living standard for local citizens.
On this occasion, HCMC People’s Committee has awarded Certificates of Merit to 13 groups, 30 groups have been awarded Certificates of Merit by HCMC Union of Friendship Associations for their active participation into charitable activities in the city.
