In his speech, Swiss Consul General Othmar Hardegger expressed his delights at well-established relations between Vietnam and Switzerland after 47 years of establishing diplomatic relations. High-profile visits of both countries’ leaders have become solid foundation for both countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation in fields of economy, investment, trade, aviation, education and training, people diplomacy, etc.

Regarding to HCMC-Switzerland relation, Mr. Othmar Hardegger thanked the city’s leaders and competent agencies for their support to Swiss business community in an effort to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation relations between Vietnam and Switzerland.

For his part, Mr. Huynh Cach Mang said that Switzerland is one of the first European countries to establish diplomatic with Vietnam in 1971. After nearly a half century, both sides’ cooperation relations have continuously developed, especially in term of ODA of Switzerland to Vietnam.

He said that there are still lots of cooperation potential between HCMC and Switzerland. Switzerland now maintains as one of the important foreign investors in HCMC with 72 projects worth US$ 604 million. It is expected that HCMC will launch a direct flight to Zurich at the end of 2018 to further promote trade and tourism development between HCMC and Switzerland.

“HCMC always supports and creates the most favourable conditions for Swiss investors and people to visit, study and implement cooperation programs in the city, bringing Vietnam-Switzerland relations to a new height”, affirmed Mr. Huynh Cach Mang.
