Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Truong Minh Nhut, President of Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, highlighted historical significance of Cambodian Independence Day, congratulated people of Cambodia on their achievements in the past years.

Mr. Nhut added Vietnam and Cambodia are close neighboring countries; both countries have good traditional and friendship relation. Both sides were united and mutually supported in the struggle for national liberation. Today, leaders and peoples of both countries are striving to consolidate and strengthen solidarity, friendship, construction and socio-economic development. Cambodia and Vietnam have continuously expanded economic co-operation, two way trade continued to increase. In the first 9 months of 2015, total registered investment capital of Vietnam in Cambodia reached over USD3, 5 billion with 150 projects, ranked 5 out of foreign investors in Cambodia. Vietnam is also the 3rd largest trade partner of Cambodia with major focus on telecommunication, energy, bank, agricultural product processing, fertilizer, etc. Both countries are striving to increase both sides’ two way trade to US$ 5 billion.

Cambodian Consul General in HCMC Sim Sokhom thanked leaders of The Party, the State, soldiers and people of Vietnam for their support and assistance for people of Cambodia in the fight against genocidal regime, saying that Vietnam has supported Cambodia in the process of construction, protection and development.

Today, Vietnam and Cambodia is continuously promoting cooperation in fields of trade, agriculture, culture, education, health, bank, technology, science, transport, etc. Mr. Sim Sokhom expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and co-operation relation will be more tightened, making contribution to the process of peace, stability, co-operation and development of the region and the world.
