On October 26, HCMC University of Pedagogy celebrated the 40th anniversary of establishment (27/10/1976 – 27/10/2016). Deputy Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Vo Thi Dung and Deputy Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Prof. PhD Nguyen Kim Hong, Headmaster of HCMC University of Pedagogy said the school has trained over 107,000 students in last 40 years, of whom 55, 268 are full-time students, 55, 774 students (crash course and in-service), thousands of post-graduate students, thousands of foreign students, offering regular training courses for over 109,932 teachers and entering training cooperation programs with over 80 international universities.
The school was awarded First and Third Labor Medals, Third Independence Labor Medal by the President and many other Certificates of Merit from Ministry of Education, HCMC People’s Committee and other localities.
At the ceremony, Deputy Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu highly valued the school’s efforts to overcome difficulties and affirm its role in the pedagogical system in the Southern provinces and cities, training over 100, 000 teachers and management officials at all levels with more than 3,300 Master degree holders and 140 doctorate degree holders. The size of the school is also expanded in terms of number of students, faculties, training quality is much improved.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu stressed the school’s training activities are closely attached with people cultivation and highly valued by employers. In the last 10 years, the school has trained many generations of teachers for HCMC at all grades. These have made big contributions to the process of education-training innovation of HCMC.
Mrs. Thu expressed her hope that the school continues to accompany with the city in the coming time develop a high quality human resource, promote scientific research in education, saying the city is always creating the most favorable conditions for the school to best uphold its role and missions.
On this occasion, Mr. Dang Chinh Nghia, former deputy headmaster of HCMC University of Pedagogy was awarded Third Class Labor Medal, 5 groups and 19 individuals were granted Certificates of Merit by HCMC People’s Committee, 8 groups and 24 individuals were honored with Certificates of Merit from Ministry of Education and Training.
