3,000 young men to wear good helmet
Around 3,000 young men in Ho Chi Minh City September 14 participated in the festival in response to the campaign titled “Everyone wears standard helmets when riding their bikes”.
The festival, jointly held in HCMC by the Communist Youth Union, the National Traffic Safety Committee and Unilever Company Vietnam, aiming to raise awareness of traffic safety law and obedience as well as importance of standard helmets set by the National Traffic Safety Committee.
At festival, there were activities including presenting gifts to disadvantaged young men who had traffic accidents, signature for wearing standard helmet, guidance how to distinguish standard and substandard helmets...
Traffic police and young men exchanged 1,500 standard helmets to residents in traffic lights in 10 major streets. Before, in August, the festival organizers launched campaign to wear quality helmets. From August 23 to date, more than 150,000 communist young men have promised to buy and wear good helmets.
By the National Traffic Safety Committee’s statistics, the country has 30,000 traffic accidents per year.
Most of accidents involved in motorbikes with 70 percent. Up to 30 percent of traffic accident victims suffered brain injuries.
