In the morning of September 29, HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients (HCMC SAPP) celebrated the 25 years of founding themed “full of deep affection”.
Established since 1994, under special attention & support of the city’s leaders, departments and agencies, doctors, sponsors, HCMC SAPP has made efforts in taking care of poor patients through charity programs: “for the children’s smile”, “heart operation for poor children”, “recovering eye sight for poor patients”, “wheelchair for disabled people and paralyzed children”, etc. In the last 25 years, HCMC SAPP has received over VND 2,500 billion from sponsors to support over 8,150 children with heart disease, 572,000 children and adults through eye operation.
At the same time, HCMC SAPP has supported more than 38, 300 children through cleft palate surgery, giving 49, 895 wheelchairs to disabled and paralyzed children, purchasing 152, 000 health insurance cards for the poor, giving 37, 700 scholarships to children with difficult circumstances; giving 18, 300 hearing aids to the poor children, providing health check and treatment to over 60, 000 poor women; offering 15, 000 free meals to poor patients in hospitals, etc.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong highly appreciated efforts and performances of HCMC SAPP in supporting poor people. He suggested HCMC SAPP to continue promoting its achieved results, strengthening charity programs, coordinating with related organs, trade unions, charity organizations, sponsors, domestic and foreign businesses to join hands in taking care of poor people.
Mr. Phong affirmed: “It is always a consistent policy of the city to create favorable conditions for HCMC SAPP to further uphold its achieved results in the last 25 years”. He also called sponsors, doctors, businesses, volunteers to continue accompanying HCMC SAPP to join hands in building HCMC into a modern-civilized-sentimental city with better living quality.
HCMC SAPP is also honored the First-Class Labor Medal by Vietnam President, 3 individuals and 4 groups are awarded Badges from HCMC, 9 other individuals are awarded certificates of merits in recognition of their contributions in the last 25 years.
