Speaking at the celebration, Mr. Liem congratulated the French Consul General and his wife, French business community and people living and working in HCMC, saying Vietnam-France have gained many fruitful achievements in many fields since both countries upgraded their relation to strategic partnership in September 2013.

In economy, France is always one of the most important partners of Vietnam in Europe. The launch of Vietnam-Europe FTA (EVFTA) in the coming time will further promote economic cooperation between France and Vietnam. In addition, the EVFTA will create more new business opportunities for both sides.

 
Till end of June 2016, France is one of 10th largest foreign investors in HCMC with 179 projects worth US$ 841 million. In term of trade, export –import value of HCMC and France reached US$ 746 million, up 8, 5% compared to the same period of 2014. In addition, Olympic Lyon (France) and HCMC have been cooperating in training Vietnamese young footballers.

Mr. Liem expressed his hope that French Consulate General in HCMC will play the role of linking bridge between HCMC and France, contributing to the improvement of Vietnam-France strategic partnership.
