Attending the ceremony includes Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, Ambassador Bruno Angelet Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnamm, Ambassadors of country members of European Union, Mr. Nicolas Audier and Denis Brunette -Co-Chairmen of Eurocham and representatives of members of Eurocham.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nicolas Audier gave a brief introduction of Eurocham, he said Eurocham began with 100 people, now it has over 1000 members and becomes one of the largest business associations in Asia.

In the past few years, Eurocham has become a voice of European business community anad linking bridge between European investors and the Government of Vietnam. The requent work exchange between Eurocham and Central and local authories of Vietnam, including HCMC has helped create a positive interactive spirit and contribute to the continuing development of Vietnam.

Sharing the Eurocham’s contribution to Vietnam’s development, Mr. Nicolas Audier said Eurocham has made ceaseless efforts in organizing connectivity activities between European companies and European Commission to turn Vietnam into a major destination for European investors.
Eurocham is proactivly making a lobbying effort to ensure the schedule of submitting EVFTA to European Parliament before the next election in May 2019.

In his welcoming speech, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong stressed that since establishing diplomatic relations in 1990, Vietanm-Eu cooperation relation has been well-developed through EU-Vietnam Framework Agreement in 1995, Eu-Vietnam Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership in 2012 and EVFTA (expected to be approved by EC and European Parliament soon).

Mr. Phong expressed his respect for Eurocham’s willingness and positive opinion to push the the ratification of EVFTA as well as Eurocham’s role in making positive contributions to Vietnam. Besides, Eurocham is an active member of the Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform directed by the Prime Minister. At the same time, Eurocham has been accompanying Vietnam Business Forum to support the reform of legal framework of Vietnam.

On behalf of HCMC’s leaders, Mr. Phong highly appreciated the cooperation efficiency of HCMC authorites in its efforts to build suitable mechanism and policies to improve its investment environment, especially in the process of Vietnam’s proactive integration into new generation of free trade agreements.
